While Nordstrom is continuing a summer sale tradition dating back to the ’60s, other major retailers are also preparing to kick off their summer savings events. Amazon is hosting its Prime Day sale from July 8 to July 11, marking the first time the e-commerce giant has extended the sales event to four days. Walmart and Target will each debut their own July sales events around the same time.

To promote its anniversary sale, Nordstrom is unveiling a new campaign and hosting a series of events both in stores and online. The company tapped Chloe Fineman of “Saturday Night Live” fame to appear in its national campaign. From July 8 to Aug. 3, the company is hosting numerous gatherings and giveaways, such as its July 19 Beauty Bash in which shoppers can receive makeup tutorials, customized samples and gifts with their purchases.

Nordstrom’s anniversary event follows the nearly 125-year-old retailer’s exit from the stock market. Members of the Nordstrom family and Mexican retail conglomerate El Puerto de Liverpool teamed up to take the company private in an all-cash transaction valued at around $6.25 billion in December. Last month, Nordstrom exited the New York Stock Exchange, with the Nordstrom family maintaining a controlling stake.
